Saving the game

 

Your game progress is automatically saved when you reach specific points in the game (checkpoints).

 

Selecting [CONTINUE] at the Title Menu allows you to resume playing from the last checkpoint you reached.

 

Do not close the game or turn off your PC while the save icon is showing.

 

Can I have multiple saves?

 

No. Save data is overwritten with each save. 

 

How do I exit the game?

 

On PC: select QUIT GAME from the Title Menu while the save icon in the upper right corner of the screen is not showing.

On PlayStation: press the PS button, but only after the save icon in the upper right corner of the screen is no longer displayed.

 

On Xbox: press the Xbox button, but only after the save icon in the upper right corner of the screen is no longer displayed.

 

The Phantom Pain Only: Importing save data

 

You can carry over save data from METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES to METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN.

 

To carry over save data:

• First start up METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES and select [UPLOAD MGSV:GZ SAVE DATA] from the Title Menu.
• The data is then uploaded to the game server.
• Next, select [DOWNLOAD MGSV:GZ SAVE DATA] from the METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN Title Menu to apply the save data that was carried over.

 

Are there any perks if I import save data from METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES?

 

Yes, save data to be carried over includes the Sneaking Suit from METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES as well as certain prisoners and soldiers you extracted.

 

These soldiers will join Diamond Dogs as volunteers at certain points in the game.

 

Are there any restrictions to obtain these bonuses?

 

To obtain these save data carry over bonuses, you need to be able to play METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES (have the access to the console hardware, game software, and save data), have online access, and install an online update for the game.

 

Carry-overs are platform-specific and your METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES and METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN data must be associated with the same online account (Sony Entertainment Network account, Microsoft® account or Steam® account.)
