What is the Mother Base?

 

It’s the central headquarters of the Diamond Dogs. 

 

Do I have to be inside the Mother Base to access its functions?

 

Not necessarily. Most of the Mother Base Functions are available from the Mother Base menu even during a mission.

 

How do I staff my Mother Base?

 

While engaged in missions out on the open world, you'll run into soldiers, animals, weapons, and supply containers all of which you can fulton away from the battlefield. Each completed mission results in even greater rewards for expanding your Mother Base!

 

Grow Mother Base to expand development for new weapons and items.

Can I expand my Mother Base?

Yes. Initially, the Command Platform will be the only Platform available on your Mother Base. As you progress through the game, though, you’ll be able to add more:

 

• Research and Development Platform
• Medical Platform
• Intel Platform
• Support Platform
• Base Development Platform
• Combat Unit Platform

Each Platform will provide specific perks based on its specific type (for example, the Support Platform will improve the supply drops). 

 

What kind of activities can I perform in Mother Base?

 

You can enjoy a lot of things in Mother Base. It definitely isn’t only shooting training! Play the game to find out all the functionalities of the Mother Base.

 

Can other players destroy parts of my Mother Base or affect my resources in the Mother Base?

 

No, other players can only infiltrate your FOBs, not your Mother Base.

 

What are FOBs?

 

FOBs (Forward Operating Bases) are an extension of the Mother Base, and they’re part of the online functionalities of the game. 

 

Buildings, you can infiltrate other players and take their resources, including staff and supplies.Competing players can also attack your FOBs online. To protect against enemy infiltrations to your FOB, customize your security options and equip your forces with the best weaponry and defense supplies.

 

Can I play FOB in offline mode?

 

No, you can't. FOB is an online only element of The Phantom Pain.

 

Can I use a vehicle or buddy to defend my FOB?

 

No you can't.

 

Is the defence system in Mother Base or FOB allocated automatically or manually?

 

It will be allocated automatically based on the default setting. But you can change this setting later.

 

What is the purpose of visiting a friend's Mother Base? Also, is there any boss battle with co-op play like Peace Walker?

 

There is no CO-OP play. Visiting your friend's Mother Base, you can refer to your FOB defence.

 

Can I enjoy the main story without being worried that my FOB gear is being affected?

 

Yes, it's possible if you disconnect from your internet connection. That means, however, that none of the online functionalities will be available!

 

Do you receive any notifications when your FOB is being infiltrated?

 

Yes, you will be notified when other players infiltrate your FOB.

 

Can other players invade my FOB even when I am not online?

 

Yes they can. If you are not online and your support player is online, they can defend your FOB instead of you.
